As a result of the 2002 Air-Conditioning Study by SGE, eleven (11) schools were selected for HVAC renovation in 2004. Package #2 included three (3) elementary schools, Pittman, Weller, and Westport. The design of Pittman school was radically different than other district schools with split systems and under-slab ductwork. We were able to include 22 donated rooftop units in this project. Part of Pittman, as well as, Weller and Westport schools were air conditioned by adding a chilled water system to the existing hot water heating system. Part of Westport school required replacing steam radiant heat with hot water heat. All three schools included replacement of windows and minor repairs to the building envelope.
